We completed the final day of the Amplexor Life Sciences BE THE EXPERT 2018 training and conference, with a further line-up of thought leaders and subject matter experts keeping a packed auditorium engaged and involved along the way.
Andrew Marr started the day by looking at RIM over the last 20 years and using his in-depth industry knowledge and experience to predict what will happen to RIM. It’s a future that will see a coming-of-age for structured content authoring, not driven by regulators, but a logical extension of managing data and documents and the use of AI to extract data from documents. However, will this AI-extracted data be trusted by regulators? Will there always need to be a manual element to this?
Andrew is now retiring from the industry, so we’d like to thank him for all his insight over the years and wish him the very best for the future – he’s been a longstanding and highly valued contributor to BE THE EXPERT. From one RIM guru to another, Frits Stulp was next up, delivering a presentation that looked at IDMP and advised on how best to make the most of this and get information to the right people at the right time, enabling informed decision making.
The rest of DAY THREE of the conference separated into two tracks, where we were fortunate enough to hear presentations on regulatory innovation and how it can help bring products to market faster, and a practical session on how to write better dossiers and improve application quality that will reduce approval times. Kinpase’s John Cogan spoke about the inadequacies of regulatory technology for Lifecycle Management, while Amplexor’s own Barbara Peralta and David Gwyn shared their expertise on retrospective labeling, and provided advice for best practices.
Jens-Olaf Vanggaard from Highpoint Solutions provided his perspective on best practices for data governance and explained why it’s essential to the new generation of RIM systems. In the second track, Karsten Krüger and Gero Neidlinger from MAIN 5 partnered to present their firm’s approach and lessons learned about an end-to-end DMS implementation, for Life Sciences organizations to meet their long-term strategic and operational goals.
The track was anchored by Ralf Heineke, of the event’s co-partner, DACH IBM. Ralf demonstrated why the IBM cloud is the right basis for Amplexor’s Life Sciences solutions – and focused on infrastructure, scalability, and security.
We heard more about RIM and using it to deliver better efficiencies across operations. Amplexor Life Sciences’ VP Strategy, Romuald Braun who concluded this year’s BE THE EXPERT by exploring how regulatory information will become part of your big data architecture. Compliance is such a big factor in our industry and Romuald explained how it could change from being a cost of doing to business to something that adds actual value to a company.
Our 20th year of BE THE EXPERT has undoubtedly been our biggest and best so far, with more than 130 delegates from 30-plus companies from around the world. We’ve enjoyed a stellar line-up of industry experts, networked with our peers in the beautiful city of Dubrovnik, and at Amplexor, we have welcomed the opportunity to share our vision and product roadmap for the future, helping you address some of the challenges we have heard so much about over the last few days.
A special "Thank You" to everyone who has been part of BE THE EXPERT 2018 – including our main event co-partner, IBM, diamond sponsors, Cognizant and Highpoint and bronze sponsor, Main5 - see you all again in 2019!
